However, if you have an excessive amount of wax in your ears, you may experience the below symptoms and your ear wax should be removed by a trained professional.
When we receive your a ear wax removal appointment request,we will take a detailed history to determine whether you are a suitable candidate for an ear wax removal appointment. Once your booking request is approved, your appointment is booked.
Ear wax removal appointments can be performed at your home or workplace in Sydney St George and Sutherland Shire area, provided there is an accessible power point for the audiologist to plug in the micro-suction machine. The client is required to sit on a stable chair with a backrest and ideally head support.
You should start using ear wax softening ear drops at least 3 days before your appointment. Ear wax could be too hard and impacted to be removed safely if softening ear drops haven’t been applied.
At the appointment, we will carefully perform an otoscopic examination to ensure that there are no contraindications for ear wax removal. A headlight with magnification is worn by the audiologist to allow for good visualization of the ear canal.
If you decide you do not want to have your ear wax removed, at any time, you may stop the procedure.
We mainly use micro-suction to remove the wax. During micro-suction, a small suction tube is carefully inserted in your ear to attach and remove the wax, you will hear a loud whooshing sound when the suction tube is in your ear.
For some ear wax, instrument removal may be used instead of micro-suction. Ear curettes and forceps are used to remove the wax.
Aural irrigation is also applied sometime which pressured body temperature water is injected into the ear canal at an angle and dislodges the wax, fragments it and forces it from the ear canal.
Ear wax removal involves minor risks such as small abrasions or minor bleeding. Temporary dizziness and tinnitus may occur during or after wax removal and most of the symptoms are self-resolved.
$160 per ear wax removal appointment in Sydney St George and Sutherland area by a fully qualified audiologist(specialist in hearing).If no wax is removed or you decide you do not want to have your wax removed during the appointment, a $70 refund will be provided. There is no Medicare rebate available for ear wax removal appointments.
Please complete the payment at least 24 hours before the appointment by credit card (sub-charge applies) or direct bank transfer as specified on your invoice. If due to unforeseen circumstances we need to cancel your appointment, a full refund will be provided.
